Villa Mara

My fiancé and I booked Villa Mara in Drniš for two weeks in June 2022 and unfortunately we were not able to stay for the whole time, as we planned. After a few times of swimming in the pool, I got swimmer's itch so we needed to promptly leave. At least, that is what my doctor concluded and recommended that it is best if I don't bath in that swimming pool anymore. Marko, the owner of the villa, was pleasant about the situation and we agreed that he will pay back the amount for the rest of the days because we were leaving earlier, which we appreciated. Other then that terrible itch that lasted for a few days, they were nice hosts that prepared nice welcome gift for us (cheese plate & wine). The house looked good and is quite modern. It has all the necessities, but when the weather is bad there is not any activities available in the house, expect for the TV. There is also no additional activities outside, except for the swimming pool, even though other possibilities were mentioned in the description of the house. If you are expecting to rest from the urban world, this will be a great location because you are quite outside of the small town Drniš, on a hill. You can go to Drniš to buy food, but it being a small town there is not anything else that the town offers. Also, if you are easily scared by bugs and other insects (bees, small scorpions, big spiders etc.), this place is probably not for you because you are surrounded with a lot of nature. But if you are looking for any other activities or Croatian beaches and clear water, you can drive to Sibenik which is around 45mins drive and is on the coast.

We (family of 5) stayed in Villa Mara for 10 days, end of July 2021. It is a very charming and beautiful stone house and we really enjoyed our stay. The house is very well equipped and we did not miss anything. Especially the pool and the outside dining area with open fire place we really enjoyed. The house is located in a very small rural village on the mountainside with a great view to the mountains and the valleys. It is very peacefully and you should really take your time to explore the surrounding - both the village as well as the many hiking and biking trails in the area, which can take you both to the top of the mountains or to the nearby city Drniš. Most of our shopping we did in Drniš, but we also went to the two cities Knin at the Krka River and Sibenik at the coast with further shopping and restaurants. Exploring the nature and landscapes in and around the Krka Nationalpark is a must as well as the coastline. But to get back to our private and peacefull house was the best. Also I would like to thank for the hospitality from the owner Marco as well as Petra and Joško - both for the warm welcome and their helpfulness during our stay with printing tickets and booking. And to Marco & Joško: the Knez wine was excellent....(o: Hope to see you again.
